May 2025

Hello friends,

We have a full month ahead as we dive into an exciting and productive May here on the farm. Here’s what you can look forward to:

🛒 Farm Market – May 17
We’ll be back at the market with fresh cuts of lamb on Saturday, May 17! Supply of fresh cuts will be limited. We’re so thankful for everyone who supported us this past weekend and can’t wait to see you again. Keep an eye on @palmerlambtn for details on what’s in the cooler.

🌾 Pasture Planting
We’ll be planting long time favorites crabgrass and chicory, along with some experimental plots of Bermuda grass to test performance in our grazing system and improve pasture diversity.

🧪 Soil & Fertility Applications
Our next round of EM Nitro will go out soon to boost plant-available nitrogen and support vigorous pasture growth. At the end of the month, we’ll follow it with an EM-1 inoculation to further enrich the microbial community in the soil.

🔬 Soil Microscopy
We’ll continue looking at our soil under the microscope to monitor biological activity. This helps us fine-tune practices that support long-term fertility and resilience.

🐑 Lambing Season Starts
Lambing begins at the end of May! We’ll be prepping the barns and getting ready to welcome this year’s new arrivals. It’s one of the most special—and busiest—times on the farm.

🥕 Sheep Nutrition Focus
This month, we’ll concentrate on late gestation nutrient support for our pregnant ewes and continue working on breeding season nutrition to keep our ewes who are with the rams in peak condition.

🍽️ New Recipes Coming Soon
More lamb recipes will be added to our website soon—thank you for your patience! We’re excited to share some fresh and simple ways to prepare your favorite cuts.

Thank you for being part of our farm community. Your support makes our work possible, and we look forward to seeing you soon—at the market or online!

Warmly,
The Palmer Family
